Default 600 & 700 yards at 100+ degrees!

Great day at the range today, despite the 100+ degree temperatures. Jim brought out his 6.5x47, DMCI brought out a couple of .308's including a sweet AR-10 and his very accurate M40A3, and I had the good old "Green Machine" .308 of course.

Here's the Green Machine in my little Eberlestock "mini-me" pack. It's a pretty good pack for a day hunt or as a grab-it-and-go type pack. Just big enough for a scoped rifle, a box or two of ammo, a rangefinder and a snack. Of course it has a water bladder as well.

Our official spotter - Jim - trying to read the mirage... You think maybe at 100+ degrees we had heat waves to deal with?

Dave's other .308, a remarkably accurate AR-10 with the very cool 1.8 - 10x USO scope. Even with the stubby barrel it delivered the goods at 600 yards:

Jim's 6.5... Using that thing is like cheating! What a neat little rifle... I can shoot it left handed, but I do need a little more stock length. Really, a brilliant rifle. The trigger is incredible, and the cartridge produces literally no recoil in that rifle. Or almost no recoil. Amazing piece of gear.

It was a fine day, with some pretty good shooting going on! Jim and Dave, thanks for a great range session.

Regards, Guy

That was indeed fun. You did forget to mention you center hit on the 13.5"x10" steel at 585 yards with your green rifle, prone, sling only. First and only shot he took with his rifle. I couldn't shame him into backing it up,. Guy kept muttering something about one shot one kill or some such thing, I contributed it to his spotter giving a good condition call....
